The Buffalo County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) is dedicated to conducting in-depth investigations on criminal matters that extend beyond the capabilities and time constraints of the road patrol. Our team tackles some of the most serious and complex crimes, including fraud, sexual assault, child abuse, internet crimes against children, major thefts, deaths, vehicle fatalities, and a variety of drug cases. Equipped with some of the most technologically advanced tools, the CIB is at the forefront of forensic and digital forensic investigations. Our shared forensics and digital forensics lab, in collaboration with the Kearney Police Department, boasts some of the most advanced software and tools in the state. This allows us to process and examine digital devices such as phones and computers in-house, ensuring thorough and efficient investigations. The CIB team consists of five highly trained investigators, including a sergeant. Each investigator has specialized training in specific areas but is capable of handling a wide variety of investigations. Our team operates to ensure that we are always ready to respond to urgent investigative needs.
